Albania accelerating its EU accession by 5.5 years thanks to AI

In a recent OpenAI blog post on Elon Musk's lawsuit against the company, the authors make a reference to how OpenAI tools are helping Albania "to accelerate its EU accession by as much as 5.5 years".

A recent agreement between the government of Albania and the AI company allows the country to use ChatGPT in order to translate 280,000 pages "of EU legal measures and provisions into" Albanian "and then integrate them into existing legal structures". OpenAI tools will also help provide an analysis of the impact of these legal measures and provisions - something which usually requires a lot of time, as well as human and financial resources.

Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama later also announced that artificial intelligence will also be helping the country replace archaic services by local and national administrations, mostly in an effort to reduce corruption in public procurement.
